Welcome to Birmingham Airport! BHX is located 6.3 miles or 10.2 kilometers east southeast of the Birmingham city centre, within the West Midlands, England in the United Kingdom (UK). In 2008, it was the UK's seventh busiest airport handling a record-breaking amount of 9.6 million passengers. The airport offers domestic flights within the UK as well as international flights to and from Europe, North America, Middle East and many more regions with the help of over thirty airlines.

The airport recently published a master plan for its development called "Towards 2030: Planning a Sustainable Future for Air Transport in the Midlands." They put to action large-scale plans to change the terminals, airfield layout and off-site infrastructure to handle 70 million passengers and 500,000 aircraft movements annually. 

Passenger Services

BHX airport has over 40 restaurants, bars and shops in the departure lounge and before security areas. There are shopping centers where you can grab a quick snack and a magazine at Spar, the 24 hour convenience store, or even treat yourself to a manicure at Cloud Nails. There are also over ten eateries to choose from traditional Italian food to the classic American burger.

Other facilities include religious and cultural, business facilities including for hire meeting rooms and a Visitor Information Centre. BHX is dedicated to providing good customer service throughout one's journey at the airport. Their free facilities include Sky Zone, a family friendly interactive play area, and free Wi-Fi throughout the airport terminal.


Birmingham Airport is located at the heart of the UK motorway network, thus enabling easy access for up to 35 millions of people living within a two hour radius. Air-Rail Link can directly connect over 100 towns and cities to the airport for free. A 24-hour taxi service operates direcly outside the terminal building. But for those that are eco-friendly, the airport can even be accessed by bike or on foot via a number of segregated paths.


Nearby hotel reservations can be set up by the Birmingham Airport if necessary. There are many local hotels that provide shuttle service for those on overnight trips.
